The Pottstown Arts & Cultural Alliance is a result of the collective vision of its founding members: The Gallery School of Pottstown @ Gallery on High, Pottstown Symphony Orchestra, and Village Productions/Tri-County Performing Arts Center.
The leaders of these arts organizations have known for some time what has become increasingly apparent in towns and cities across the country: the arts mean business. From Beacon, NY to Paducah, KY, arts and cultural activities and tourism have spurred the revitalization of former manufacturing centers, especially those with riverfronts. Experts in economic redevelopment also recognize the potential of these strategies for Pottstown. A recent Urban Land Institute report, advising Pottstown’s civic leaders on its transformation strategies, calls for the building of “a threshold of culture, arts, entertainment, and nightlife activity.” And the Economic Development Plan within Montgomery County’s Comprehensive Plan urges support of arts groups and artists, particularly in revitalizing areas. It was Aristotle who said, “The whole is more than the sum of its parts,” and PACA’s coordinated programming and marketing efforts put that adage into action. By working together, Alliance members seek to attract families, empty-nesters, young professionals, students and businesses to historic downtown Pottstown to share in arts and cultural experiences that will last a lifetime. We invite you to be a pART of it!
